The Facts
• ADD is a biological, often genetic, condition Is found world-wide in
approximately the same proportion
• Affects about 6% of the general population, but only 2% are diagnosed
• Is equally distributed between the sexes; but is often unrecognized in girls
• ADD is a life-long condition
• Needs to be treated
• The medication is not addictive rather it lowers the rate of drug abuse opposed to people with untreated ADD
• Requires comprehensive treatment (drug, nutrition, psychological, academic, social)
